Nomura’s inaugural global sustainable finance conference delivered important discussions across Environmental, Social and Governance topics from COP26 conclusions to the trends shaping green finance and investing, and lessons from Japan’s employment model in a post-Covid 19 world.

Nomura Group President and CEO Kentaro Okuda shared his vision for finance as a facilitator in the race to net zero by 2050. Former COP26 President, Claire O’Neill, spoke passionately about the green energy transition as, on the scale of the industrial revolution, happening at the speed of the technology revolution, underpinned by investment flows. Lewis Pugh, endurance swimmer and Patron of the UN Oceans gripped delegates with his tales of bravery in ice cold water to highlight global warming while urging governments and the finance sector to take urgent action to avert a climate catastrophe.
